HER STORY

I am a “crown fixer” today because someone thought enough of me to fix my crown during a time when I needed it most.”

Jean A. Cole

Jean Cole is a Registered Nurse who has worked in the medical field for over thirty years. More than fifteen of those years have been with a community-based clinic where she has served and cared for individuals in need of free or low-cost healthcare. Jean has always had a certain compassion for other women, specifically single mothers, who are struggling to make ends meet while raising their children and maintaining a household. These are the women who tend to delay their own personal health and wellness to attend to that of their children and oftentimes, other family members.

In August of 2017; she organized her first two-day women’s conference and retreat and named it Maintain Your Position, after a sermon preached by her late father, Pastor Kelly Brown.

The conference was well received and four years later, many women have come to look forward to the annual retreat with great excitement and anticipation. Jean understands the importance of the village and the need for a strong support system when dealing with transition. “I too have found myself in a rebuilding phase after a divorce and can appreciate the importance of having people in your corner who will cheer you on to success so that one day you can do the same for someone else. Our organization has adopted the motto, Be the woman who fixes another woman’s crown without telling the world that it was crooked. I am a “crown fixer” today because someone thought enough of me to fix my crown during a time when I needed it most.”
